50 years of INHORGENTA: “New Look and Feel”

Next February (16-19) INHORGENTA will celebrate its 50th birthday: and they will do things in style, as Exhibition Director Stefanie Mändlein announced during an exclusive preview event held late June at Olympiapark München for the benefit of roughly 80 participants between exhibitors, jewelers, partners and media representatives. The location itself “symbolizes the cheerful openness of INHORGENTA’s founding days”, the Seventies, so full of colors and enthusiasm, with a push towards change and innovation (by the way, the name INHORGENTA comes from International, Horlogerie, Argentum and Aurum, as Mändlein brought up).

The June event was enlivened by glamorous fashion shows showcasing jewelry pieces and watches by several brands among which Autore, Capolavoro, Gellner, Jörg Heinz, Nanis and Niessing, while trend analyst Niels Holger Wien (German Fashion Institute ), also President of Intercolor, gave a presentation, “AI catwalk analysis—the future is silver”, focusing on new trends in fashion and jewellery (and the key role of silver) as regards colors, new materials, recyclability, fluidity, stressing the growing importance of jewelry in fashion.

In view of the 50th anniversary of the fair the whole team is organizing a very special and glamorous edition: “This year’s strong comeback and the 50th anniversary are the perfect moment for a new spirit, a new look and for trading up in all halls – Stefanie Mändlein underlined, announcing also the brand relaunching under the banner “Strong and Confident” by designer Mirko Borsche and a new, modern “Look and Feel” inside the pavilions, which will feature new elements, installations, dedicated areas and a strong upgrade of the food and beverage areas.

On the first evening of the fair, all participants will celebrate together, including exhibitors from INHORGENTA’s very beginning. An exclusive gala will revive the early 1970s. The INHORGENTA AWARD, one of the iconic highlights of the fair, will also offer an extra class, celebration moment.

Two exhibitions, between past and present, are also being set up: “Humanity and Diversity” will showcase a series of  nowadays portraits by famous Berlin photographer Jakob Tillmann (in 1919 winner of the European Fashion Award), while “Infinite Reflection” is a travel back 5000 years, to the dawn of jewelry history: an interactive travel from history until today.

In 2023, INHORGENTA attracted  802 exhibitors from 38 countries and 24,000 visitors from 90 countries but the fair is growing and new top brands, including Porsche Design, have already announced they will attend the next edition. “We want to be more and more international – Stefanie Mändlein said – and among other things we have developed a special top buyers program – we will invite more than 600 international buyers, chosen in part in collaboration with our exhibitors, and will host them at the luxury Hyatt Andaz Boutique Hotel in Leopoldstraße. And we will also pay special attention to the Designers Pavilion in order to win back its unique prestige”.
